COVID-19: Pharmacy Benefit Managers Are Working for Patients

(NewsUSA) – As the coronavirus takes hold in the United States and front-line health care providers are hard-pressed to treat those who are sick, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), along with health insurers, are working to help patients weather the pandemic.PBMs across the board are helping patients obtain their essential medications, and supporting plan sponsors who want to waive treatment costs associated with COVID-19 care. A number of PBMs are doing more. For example, one PBM and health plan are offering an early intervention screening tool to help customers and members understand their personal risks for COVID-19.Beyond these efforts, PBMs are collaborating with health plans and pharmacies to remove potential barriers to getting prescriptions filled by people staying at home and social distancing. Specifically, PBMs are encouraging early prescription drug refills, helping patients sign up for home delivery, and adjusting utilization management programs to minimize potential access delays. PBMs are also advising patients to adhere to guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This global pandemic raises the possibility of prescription drug shortages, as drugs normally used by only a few people may suddenly be needed by many, or manufacturing centers may be sidelined by virus outbreaks. PBMs, along with drug manufacturers, wholesalers and pharmacies, are integral to identifying and managing drug shortages to reduce the prospects of patients being without their prescribed medications. PBMs are closely monitoring the global manufacturing environment and using analytics to gauge patients’ prescription drug usage trends to anticipate possible disruptions to the supply chain. Then, working in concert with others, PBMs are working to help spread the existing drug supply as equitably as possible among patients who need those drugs.Indeed, it’s vitally important during the public health crisis that all patients continue receiving access to medications, particularly those treating chronic illnesses, such as asthma and rheumatoid arthritis. As the public increasingly demands off-label use of some medications to treat COVID-19, PBMs are implementing measures that balance off-label usage with the ongoing needs of patients using on-label prescriptions for chronic illnesses. Here, for example, is how one PBM approaches this balancing act:Decades ago, PBMs perfected home delivery of medicines for patients. While the service has always been a convenient and lower-cost option for patients to access their prescription drugs, home delivery has never been as important as it is right now. That’s why PBMs are enhancing home delivery services, as well as working with network pharmacies to provide local delivery options for consumers. As we all come together to find a new normal in this age of COVID-19, it is important to understand that PBMs are – and will be – working to help patients lead healthier, happier lives.

A foreigner is ashamed to introduce Bangladesh. Many say that Bengalis or people from outside the country cannot see. Some people in Kolkata themselves dislike the Bengali medium and make comments. Those who have difficulty in introducing Bengali in the world will watch this series. How a judge born in #Kushtia of subjugated India has tried to save defeated Japan from looters by ignoring the government appointed judges of the victorious Allied Powers (USA, UK, Australia, France, Netherlands, Soviet Union, China in total 11 countries). This is what the Netherlands lawyer wrote, yet could not hide his strong role. Knowing his name, I went to read the article and saw that his contribution was much more. His name is Radhabinod Pal. There are museums, roads and statues in his name in Tokyo, Japan. There is a research center at the University of Japan.

外国人はバングラデシュを紹介することを恥じています。多くの人がベンガリスや国外の人々は見ることができないと言っています。コルカタの一部の人々は、ベンガル語のメディアを嫌い、コメントしています。

Rossiya, IPA: [rɐˈsʲijə]), or the Russian Federation,[13][d] is a transcontinental country located in Eastern Europe and Northern Asia.[14] Covering an area of 17,125,200 square kilometres (6,612,100 sq mi),[15] it is the largest country in the world by area, spanning more than one-eighth of the Earth's inhabited land area,[16][17] stretching eleven time zones, and bordering 16 sovereign nations. The territory of Russia extends from the Baltic Sea in the west to the Pacific Ocean in the east, and from the Arctic Ocean in the north to the Black Sea and the Caucasus in the south. With 146.7 million inhabitants living in the country's 85 federal subjects,[8] Russia is the most populous nation in Europe and the ninth-most populous nation in the world.[18][19] Russia's capital and largest city is Moscow; other major urban areas include Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan and Chelyabinsk. The East Slavs emerged as a recognisable group in Europe between the 3rd and 8th centuries AD.[20] Founded and ruled by a Varangian warrior elite and their descendants, the medieval state of Rus' arose in the 9th century. In 988 it adopted Orthodox Christianity from the Byzantine Empire, beginning the synthesis of Byzantine and Slavic cultures that defined Russian culture for the next millennium.[21] Rus' ultimately disintegrated into a number of smaller states,[22] until it was finally reunified by the Grand Duchy of Moscow in the 15th century. By the 18th century, the nation had greatly expanded through conquest, annexation, and exploration to become the Russian Empire, which was the third largest empire in history, stretching from Norway on the west to Alaska on the east.[23][24] Following the Russian Revolution, the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (Russian SFSR) became the largest and leading constituent of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR/Soviet Union), the world's first constitutionally socialist state.[25] The Soviet Union played a decisive role in the Allied victory in World War II,[26][27] and emerged as a recognised superpower and rival to the United States during the Cold War. The Soviet era saw some of the most significant technological achievements of the 20th century, including the world's first human-made satellite and the launching of the first humans in space. Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Russian SFSR reconstituted itself as the Russian Federation and is recognised as the continuing legal personality and a successor of the USSR.[28] Since 1993, the political system is governed as a federal semi-presidential republic.[3] Vladimir Putin has dominated Russia's political system since 2000, serving as either president or prime minister.[29] His government has been accused by non-governmental organisations of numerous human rights abuses, authoritarianism and corruption. In response, Putin has argued that Western-style liberalism is obsolete in Russia, while maintaining that the country is still a democratic nation.[30][31][32] The Russian economy ranks as the fifth-largest in Europe, the eleventh-largest in the world by nominal GDP and the fifth-largest by PPP.[33] Russia's extensive mineral
and energy resources are the largest such reserves in the world,[34] making it one of the leading producers of oil and natural gas globally.[35][36] The country is one of the five recognised nuclear weapons states and possesses the largest stockpile of nuclear warheads.[37] Russia is a major great power, as well as a regional power, and has been characterised as a potential superpower. Its military has been ranked as the world's second most powerful, and the most powerful in Europe. Russia hosts the world's ninth-greatest number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, at 29,[38] and is among the world's most popular tourist destinations.[39] It is a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and an active global partner of ASEAN,[40][41][42] as well as a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the G20, the Council of Europe, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the International Investment Bank (IIB) and the World Trade Organization (WTO), as well as being the leading member of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

Liquid Assets: Water Testing for Household Well Owners A Snap

Easy Well TestingTesting one’s drinking water can be intimidating to a household well owner, but it can be easy if you know a few basic steps, says the National Ground Water Association (NGWA).
If you are concerned about your well water, these three steps can help get owners the appropriate tests for contaminants that might present a health risk — or create taste, odor, or appearance problems:
1. Determine what you should test for in your water.
2. Obtain a reliable water test.
3. Get an interpretation of your test results so you can take any appropriate action.
An excellent place to start learning more about these three steps is the NGWA website,
www.WellOwner.org.

What to test
NGWA recommends that well owners test annually for bacteria, nitrate, and anything of local concern: for instance, naturally occurring hazards, such as arsenic, or man-made, such as chemical or heavy metals from industrial or waste sites.
Most county health departments do some water testing, and many well owners are within a reasonable distance of a drinking water testing lab. Both are good places to start in finding out whether there  might be a local issue.
Getting a water test
Knowing where to start in getting a water test isn’t difficult. Go to www.WellOwner.org, and “click” on the “Water Testing” tab near the top of the page.
Next, use these buttons:
• Click for county health department contact info” — This takes you to a webpage where you can access contact information for local health departments nationwide. Ask your health department if it tests water, and if so, for what and how much it costs.
• “Find a certified testing lab” — This takes you to a map where you can navigate to your state agency webpage to obtain information about certified drinking water testing labs.
Interpretation of your water test results
For an interpretation of test results, start with the agency or lab that did the test. If you need additional help, www.WellOwner.org links to an online water test interpretation tool located under the “Water Testing” tab. Type the values from your water test results into the appropriate fields in the online tool and it will provide an explanation of the results — usually including the risks to health, any warranted actions, and appropriate water treatment technologies.
Visit www.WellOwner.org to learn more about water testing, well maintenance, water treatment, and groundwater protection.

Ways to Stay Connected (And Check On Seniors) While Social Distancing

(NewsUSA) – You know we’re all going a tad stir-crazy when a parody of the title song from Broadway’s "Oklahoma!" ("Oh, Corona!") gets almost 1.7 million views on YouTube. But it’s far worse for seniors: Not only can’t even their kids and grandkids visit them, but there’s the extra stress that comes with the nagging suspicion that they’ll be advised to remain on lockdown long after younger people begin trickling back to work.Whenever that is.In fact, the AARP Foundation has even come up with this dire comparison: Prolonged social isolation, for those aged 50 and older, "is the health equivalent of smoking 15 cigarettes a day." Fortuitously, some of the niftiest technology offers solutions both to keep us connected and protect against some of the miscreants taking advantage of the situation.* Health Checks. If you are worried that all the anxiety is harming your loved ones’ overall well-being, the machine-learning algorithms that analyze activity data as part of Alarm.com’s Wellness solution can provide you with the very details you’ve suddenly found yourself obsessing about.Did they open their medicine cabinet when they should to take their prescription? Have their sleeping, eating, and (yes) bathroom patterns changed? Are they up and about during the day?All that and more is done by connecting their home to yours via smart-home technology, with real-time smartphone alerts to let you know if something’s amiss. "You don’t even know it’s there, but it’s here to protect you and let someone know if something does go wrong," said Margarete Pullen of Dallas, Texas, whose son had the system installed by an authorized service provider for her and her husband along with a Wellcam video camera with two-way voice capability.* Movie meet-ups. Most of us are just trying to find novel ways to cope with a situation that Nicholas Christakis, a social scientist and physician at Yale University, told Science magazine "calls on us to suppress our profoundly human and evolutionary hard-wired impulses for connection."Google’s new Netflix Party extension lets friends and family watch – and video chat their way through – a movie together on their computers. You’ll need a NetFlix subscription, but then you’re free to debate whether all the hype about Martin Scorsese’s "The Irishman," say, was justified. Plus, unlike in real theatres, not many people (if any) are physically there to complain if you’re making too much noise eating popcorn.* Apps! Apps! Apps! No NetFlix subscription? With apps like FaceTime, Skype, Houseparty and Zoom comes more proof that social distancing needn’t mean social disconnecting. Mass virtual dinner parties. Mass virtual "happy hours." Mass virtual gym classes. They’ve all become quite the rage, with one Vermont couple in their eighties even touchingly using Apple’s FaceTime to see and talk to each other after the husband had to be put in a nursing home that bars visitors during the pandemic. And, oh, you say you want to be a hero in your neighborhood? Use an app like Instagram to share a video of someone that Alarm.com’s doorbell cameras caught swiping one of the many, many packages you’ve been having delivered.
